Preview: Towelhead (2008)

Poster: C

Review:

Although this poster is hardly detailed, there's a humor to the young girl's posture and stature when being used to represent the "O" in the title. Otherwise, there's nothing terribly exciting to look at.

Trailer: B-

Review:

There's something potentially rewarding here, but the trailer masks part of the film's intention. While we understand that we're supposed to be seeing a young, confused Islamic girl facing prejudice in the world while her father provides prejudice of his own, there's a humorous side to the whole thing that seems more akin to The Namesake but with a lot more situational comedy involved.

Oscar Prospects:

There may be an Adapted Screenplay nomination in this film's future, but a guarantee cannot be made due to release period and Aaron Eckhart's relatively awful track record (for so many good films he's been in, there have been so very few that were Oscar contenders).

Release Date:

August 8, 2008

Synopsis Review:

I have not seen this film.
