Review:

When I see MTV Films associated with any production, I'm instantly worried that the film will be light, frothy teen-friendly entertainment. Stop-Loss is a surprise departure for the cable music pioneer. Its focus on a soldier wanting to prevent the government from exploiting him and his fellows may be a more probing look at the war from an emotional standpoint than an obvious propaganda standpoint.

Oscar Prospects:

I'm doubtful the film will make it to the Oscar contset, but if it fills theaters and critics don't abuse it, we could be seeing an early contender, at least for a Best Actor nomination.

Release Date:

March 28, 2008
