Preview: The Signal (2008)

Poster: C-; C+
Review:
It's a blend of Poltergeist and The Ring which only continues to suggest a waste of time. This poster isn't terribly interesting, original or artistic.
Now, the film looks less like a horror film and more like an apocalyptic one. I don't know which it really is or should be, but this one is definitely easier on the eyes even if less suspenseful.

Review:
I give the trailer points for presenting its images in blurred or off-signal manner. But when the end arrives, the first thought in my mind was "this is going to be just like The Ring". I'm sure there will be some suitably freaky twist to change the formula, but the resemblance is uncanny.
This new trailer explains the twist I alluded to. This isn't The Ring 3. This is the rip-off of Stephen King's novel Cell. The only difference is the "signal" didn't come in over cell phones, it came in across the television, but the same primal-instinctual attidues of the listeners makes the film seem less intersting and more pedantic.
Oscar Prospects:
The Ring wasn't even invited to the wedding, Signal won't even be invited to The Ring's pity party.
