Preview: Mongol (2008)

Poster: B-

Review:

This somewhat simplistic cross between The Lord of the Rings and Pathfinder, seems at odds with the typical foreign lingo poster. It looks every bit the epic that could entice non-foreign fans.

Review:

It certainly looks like an intriguing film. Although we've seen many films with similar styles on this side of the ocean, it's not often we get this kind of production from a country like Kazakhstan. It definitely has similarities in style to other ancient-period epics and could be somewhat interesting, at least in a historical context.

Oscar Prospects:

As it was a nominee for last year's Foreign Language Film award, it is ineligible this year, though had it not been, it might have at least been in the running for Cinematography, Art Direction and Costume Design.

Release Date:

June 6, 2008

Synopsis Review:

I have not seen this film.
