Review:
Forgetful of the comedy posters of the past, this film uses the same tired motif of giant film title with plot-"suggestive" characters posing on the front. And Simon Pegg could be considered anything but fat (a little extra padding maybe).

Review:
Not your usual comedy but what can you expect from a Friends star behind the camera. David Schwimmer's directorial debut seems to build on the popularity of star Pegg. Schwimmer even brings in fellow NBC-alum Hank Azaria to play the surprisingly understanding Other Man. The film looks like it could be a one-trick pony rescued by a couple of decent performances.
This new trailer only pulls more of the less-than-stellar jokes from the film into a preview that is hardly entertaining and more similar to bland romantic comedy films that greenlit because they are cheap. This time, they are capitalizing on Pegg's stardom, not Schwimmer's (his name doesn't appear once in the trailer until the very end and that's part of the entire credits list). The film's ever-changing release date should be enough proof that it's probably not testing well with audiences.
Oscar Prospects:
This film looks more like Notting Hill for Oscar voters than About a Boy. The only thing that could rescue the film is if the Academy decides it wants to recognize Pegg for his recent successes (Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz). However, I see Schwimmer's directorial debut sinking quickly.
