Preview: Billy the Kid (2008)

Poster: C

Review:

The poster suggests a film in the vein of Control about a young musician perhaps coming up from hard times. This isn't far from the truth of the film, but it is a bit misleading since the subject's claim to fame will likely be this documentary.

Review:

The recent trends towards an examination of awkward youth has gotten steadily older. It's been around for years and despite the claims of a reviewer early in the preview, this doesn't suggest that it will be much different, except that it's a documentary. It's like popular kids can't have childhoods or perhaps it's the writers and documentarians looking back at their own lives as outsiders that have made it so cool to mock the kids who made fun of them when younger.

Oscar Prospects:

Releasing so early in 2008 and not being a 2007 qualifier for Oscar's docu categories suggests the film is likely to be forgotten by this time next year.

Release Date:

January 3, 2008

Synopsis Review:

I have not seen this film.
