Preview: Bangkok Dangerous (2008)

Poster: D

Review:

If there's a mug I want to see less of on posters, it's Nic Cage. That it takes up most of the space on this blue-tinted poster is all the more reason to dislike it, but it's the overall simplicity and lack of splash that make it a disaster.

Trailer: C

Review:

The traler isn't much better than the poster. While there are some less-populist aspects of the story, it is played too much like an action clone wherein the assassin is a good guy, which is possible, but rather convenient. And the film also looks to paint non-Americans as weak and unable to take care of their own problems without help.

Oscar Prospects:

Like The Rock and Con Air before them, this Nicolas Cage film is far less likely to score at the box office, better yet the Oscars.

Release Date:

August 22, 2008
