Preview: Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

Poster: B+

Review:

The poster is much better than the preview in its ability to create mystery without exploiting its visual effects.

Trailer: C

Review:

Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media brought another classic of children's literature to the screen and it wasn't very good at all. This preview looks every bit like The Chronicles of Narnia. That's an unfortunate comparison and not one that makes me want to see this film.

Oscar Prospects:

I worry that the early year release might relegate this film to an also-ran position. It will be popular with family groups at year-end awards but I doubt Oscar will take it too seriously unless a late-year push and re-launch of the film should occur.

Release Date:

February 16, 2007

Synopsis Review:

I must say that I was absolutely astounded that this film was not the mess I was expecting. This is a wonderful and touching film. AnnaSophia Robb is absolutely amazing and the film does what few others can, it helps children understand a great deal about life through fantastic stories that can best be witnessed through the imagination.
