Preview: Silk (2007)

Poster: A-

Review:

Although I don't get the way the title is displayed, the poster is nothing if not evocative. The Japanese girl that hides in his heart and mind looks demure as he holds his wife.

Trailer: B-

Review:

The trailer is too much in the style of Cold Mountain and other period romantic dramas. Michael Pitt's performance doesn't look at all convincing and Keira Knightley doesn't get much to do (though, I'm sure she has an appropriately dramatic crying scene in the film).

Oscar Prospects:

Costume designers love films where they get lots of work. Blend two styles in costuming history (American and Japanese) and you have a major contender. The art directors often follow suit, but I doubt they will with this film.

Release Date:

September 14, 2007

Synopsis Review:

I have not seen this film.
