Preview: Brooklyn Rules (2007)

Review:

What a cluttered mess of a poster. Featuring several scenes from New York City as well as four actors, film title, tagline, star names and laundry list of crew. It's as if the posters makers wanted it to be so busy as to reflect the chaotic nature of the film's premise but failed to think about how it would impact the enjoyability of the design.

Review:

Oh, joy! It's another mob film set more than two decades in the past. Departed rip-offs are coming fast and furious and no actor will be safe in such a role. This one stars Freddie Prinze Jr. whose acting talents are sorely lacking and is appearing in all likelihood just to bolster teen audiences. Either that or he's trying to assert himself as an Oscar frontrunner. Either way, it won't work.

Oscar Prospects:

Like lightning, Oscar seldom strikes twice on the same type of film. With The Departed winning this past year's Oscar competition, it is extremely unlikely that this kind of knock off will make its way to the Oscar ceremony.
