Preview: Beyond the Gates (2007)

Poster: B-

Review:

While we know what the film is about from its preview, the poster doesn't seem to give us any indication and though the "long road" motif with a man running away may resonate with the themes of the film, it does little for the imagination or for the marketing.

Review:

When it rains, it pours. This is the second film in recent memory about the plight of Rwandans during the civil war and the men and women who fight bravely to save as many as they can. Another such film can't be too promising and despite John Hurt's presence, the film looks little more than a poor-man's Hotel Rwanda.

Oscar Prospects:

This could be a contender at the Oscars like Hotel Rwanda was but I highly doubt that will be the case as been-there done-that hinders mainly non-World War II films.

Release Date:

March 9, 2007

Synopsis Review:

I have not seen this film.
